Hellion Co-Owner John Urist is the first ever 5x Champion in the NMRA!

Hellion co-owner John Urist continued his dominance of the NMRA's Super Street Outlaw class in 2009, scoring an unprecedented 5th championship. John has stamped his name solidly as one of the best street car and True Ten Five style racers ever through his accomplishments in the NMRA and elsewhere. Congratulations to John and the crew on another great season, and a big thank you to all of those that helped John achieve this landmark in his racing career.

John Urist Wins the Street Car Supernationals!

Every year in mid-November, the PSCA puts on an event like no other, the Street Car Supernationals. This event brings together hundreds of cars from all around the United States and elsewhere to battle it out for the title of baddest street car in America. The event is held at The Strip in Las Vegas, and is home to some of the best performances and closest racing all year.

This year, Hellion co-owner John Urist decided to make the trip to the SCSN and try his luck against some of the baddest True Ten Five and Drag Radial cars in the country. After Qualifying number 2, John would use consistency and skill at the tree to carve his way through the field and meet fellow New Mexican, Mike Keenan in the final round. In a showdown of completely different cars and combinations, John would use a holeshot to overcome the top-end charge of Keenan's twin-turbo, big-block Chevy-powered Camaro to take the win.

The "Purple Car" Returns!

Hellion Power Systems' Outlaw 10.5 car, nicknamed the "Purple Car," will be making it's return to action at the NMRA's next stop, in Atco, NJ. This comes after a fire during the first round of eliminations in Bradenton, FL caused much of the car to be damaged, and sent owner/driver Dwayne James to the hospital with burns to his face and legs. Well, Dwayne's all healed up, and the same can be said for the car. When it makes it's re-debut in Atco, it will have a unique combination under the hood, one the likes of which haven't been seen before in the NMRA. Keep an eye out for the new and improved "Purple Car" at an NMRA race near you.

New Drag Radial Contender Out of the Hellion Camp!

Chris Bussel will be piloting a new Drag Radial entry in the NMRA series this year. The car is powered by a Hellion Racing Engines built small-block, and is boosted by a ProCharger F1-R supercharger. The car made it's debut at the NMRA Spring Nationals in Bradenton, Florida where it made some impressive passes for it's first time out. The Hellion Racing team will continue to tweak and refine the combination on the car for the rest of this season, so look for more impressive performances from this car in the future.

New Hellion Racing Team Members!

Hellion Power Systems would like to welcome aboard Keith Neal of Neal Racing Transmissions and Chip Havemann as the newest members of Hellion Racing. Keith will be campaigning his 2004 Mustang in NMRA's Pro Outlaw 10.5 category, while Chip will be making his return to Mustang racing behind the wheel of the Calypso Green coupe formerly owned by Dwayne James. Both drivers should be major threats in their respective classes, and we are privileged to have them on the team
