New! - Hellion to Enter the Pro Modified Arena!
Hellion is set to make waves in 2013 on several different levels, but one of the biggest is their entry into the tough Pro Modified ranks. Hellion co-owners Dwayne James and John Urist will team up in 2013 to field a new Jerry Bickel-built 2011 Mustang GT powered by a 500" Ford Hemi with what else, twin Precision turbos. The specially designed chassis will be similar to other 2011 Mustang Pro Mods in appearance, but underneath it's carbon-fiber skin, the entire car will feature a fresh approach that is unlike anything in the Pro Modified ranks currently. Working with several of their sponsors, the Hellion team has created a unique engine package based off of the Ford Pro-Stock program, and hopes are high that the results will be shown in the E.T.'s Look out for this eye-catching new machine at several NMCA, and NHRA races during the 2013 season. Hellion's own John Urist decided to try something he hadn't ever tried before at the 2012 NMRA/NMCA Superbowl of Street Legal Drag Racing. He decided, perhaps with some persuasion from teammate Dwayne James, to try a set of 275 radial tires on his supercharged NMRA Super Street Outlaw car. This car, his former championship winning 2000 Saleen Mustang, had been "restored" to competitive Super Street Outlaw standards by James leading up to the Joliet, IL race for Dwayne himself to race. However, when John's points-leading coupe got smashed up in a top end mishap at the previous event in Michigan, the decision was made to let John drive the car to gain points towards his 8th Championship. Well, as in the past, the car didn't disappoint, instead it rocketed to the fastest 1/4 mile pass ever on a 275 radial, a blistering 7.091 @ 201 mph. Watch the video above and turn up the volume!
